The Bloods had debutants Dylan Caramba-Coker and current U16 player Will Norris take their place in the squad today. There was also a place in the starting line up for Jamie Dicker who had been out for around the last 8 weeks due to injury.
The early exchanges showed glimpses of how the bloods like to perform. Liam MOIR was having a positive effect every time he got near the ball. Dan PINKNEY was also using his electric pace to hassle and worry the GRAYS midfield.
It was PINKNEYS younger brother Sam Pinkney however who was causing most of the problems for the opponents with his non-stop intelligent running which was allowing Flynn Tarman to run the defence ragged.
The breakthrough came when PINKNEY (Sam) created space for TARMAN to fire home a well deserved opener.
Bloods were then rocked when defender Callum Sparrow suffered a serious knee injury which forced him out of the game. NORRIS took his place in the midfield and never looked back. A simply excellent debut from the young lad and there will be much more to come from him without doubt.
The second half saw a similar approach from the bloods, but as usual.... we had a switch off and allowed GRAYS to put away a simple header to level the game.
To their credit, the lads rolled up their sleeves and continued to probe the GRAYS defence. TARMAN created yet more space on the left flank and sent a long cross over to the far post. GAME raced onto it and had to be spot on with his timing and accuracy to beat the talented keeper and take all 3 points for SAFFRON WALDEN TOWN
